IN TODAY'S EPISODE WE HEAD CROSSTOWN TO CHECK IN WITH TYLER REID DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. HE GIVES US AN INSIDE LOOK AT HIS PASSION FOR PAINTING, HE TRIED TO REDEFINE WHAT IS CONSIDERED TOILET PAPER AND PAINTS A PRESIDENTIAL PORTRAIT WHILE BLINDFOLDED.
"This is always a very tough question to answer because my family has moved so many times. I typically refer to Cincinnati, Ohio as my hometown because that is where I finished my last few years of high school. In hindsight, that time was monumental in shaping the person I have become."
WHERE ARE YOU QUARANTINED?
"i'm locked away at my apartment in Manhattan."
"Cancer. I've never believed in horoscopes but they're growing on me. I'm learning a lot about myself being trapped alone in a 1,000 square foot space."
"Christmas. It's the only guaranteed time I get to spend with my family on a yearly basis."
"I can't really answer this because I know nothing about them. Since I was a child, I never had a strong interest in fiction. I haven't seen a Marvel film and have no intentions of doing so in the future."
AS A KID, WHAT WAS YOUR DREAM JOB?
"I wanted to be a professional soccer player in Europe. I also remember wanting to be a drummer in a punk rock band. I think I also wanted to be a doctor. Despite my lacking of interest in fiction, I definitely had a wild imagination."
DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE DESIGNERS OR BRANDS?
"Since I first took an interest in fashion, I have always loved Rick Owens and modeling for him was a dream come true. More recently, I am becoming a huge fan of Ben Taverniti - I own a couple pieces from Unravel Project and they're some of my most worn."
NOW HAVING TO SPEND ALL DAY AT HOME, WHAT KIND OF ADJUSTMENTS WERE YOU FORCED TO MAKE TO YOUR NORMAL ROUTINES?
"Luckily I haven't had to make too many significant adjustments - a majority of my work is done from home and I still sneak outside for solo adventures in my facemask. I definitely miss the little things though, especially spending time with my family and friends. "
ANY NEW SHOWS/BOOKS YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS?
"The Last Dance on ESPN is by far the greatest sports documentary I've ever watched. It is a must-see regardless of interest in sports - Michael Jordan's winning mentality is very inspiring. I just finished reading This Is Not A T-Shirt by Bobby Hundreds, which is an important story for any artist or creative."
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MEALS/TREATS THAT YOU HAVE MADE AT HOME DURING QUARANTINE?
"I tried to be a sushi chef and make my own hand-rolls. Although they still tasted delicious, they fell apart as soon as the chopsticks made initial contact with them."
WHEN THE CRISIS IS OVER, WHAT IS SOMETHING AT THE TOP OF YOUR TO-DO LIST?
"My close friends and I have agreed to catch the first direct flight to the Caribbean. Please consider this as my book out, as I will be in a rush to the airport and intend to spend at least a week there with my phone on airplane mode. HAHA"
WHAT IS ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT PEOPLE MAY BE SURPRISED TO LEARN?
"I recently found out, on accident, that I am ambidextrous. Not only was it very surprising, but it's hard to believe I never noticed at an earlier age. Maybe if I had that knowledge I would be a famous pianist or professional basketball player but I guess everything happens for a reason."
WHO DO YOU CONSIDER THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
"My father - his outstanding character and work ethic have always been the guidelines for how I try to live my life. As I grow older, it's amazing to see that a majority of the decisions I make are simply a reflection of his, although I definitely make a lot more mistakes. But I guess that's part of growing up - you live, you learn and you keep moving forward. "
